I Enjoy the work
Aggregate and Asphalt Quality Control Technician (Current Employee), Columbia, TN – January 23, 2013
Pros: benefits, home everyday, steak lunches, company phone and labtop, and provided vehicle.
Cons: laidoff in the winter season. cannot take company vehicle home everyday.
My duties consist of monitoring the quality of our finish products through material sampling and testing at quarry sites. There is some physical work to it such as lifting sample buckets and aiding quarry miners when called upon, but the company does emphasizes safety and task training to help make the work not as harsh. The job usually has a change – more... of scenery by going to different quarries every other day so it does not feel like your stuck in the same place all the time. At each quarry, the set ups are different as well as the people so when presenting concepts to them you have to watch your approach, but still emphasizing the goal is to get and have a qualtiy product. With that said that can be the hardest part of the job having the struggles of getting a product to meet specifications. The constant sampling over and over a product and having to deliver the bad news to the quarry personnel that we have to change a setting on the plant. My co-workers who are technicians like me as well as my boss are fabulous, but most of the time I work with quarry personnel and it can be easy most days, but hard some days depending on the location. – less

Foreclosure Contested Paralegal (Current Employee), Columbia, SC – August 18, 2012
Pros: i have a job in this weak economy.

I was grateful to learn merges and aquisitions as a contracting paralegal. The agency paid me well.
Contracting Paralegal (Former Employee), 14th street DC – February 22, 2012
Pros: no micro-managing, good pay, and meal re-imbersements
Cons: staff that refused to do their work, affecting overall production
Company has merged now. They fired most of the staff I knew then. However, I enjoyed the assignment, the lawyers and the overtime. I just felt that my work ethics and sustainablitiy surpassed a few of the fulltime employees and it was so obvious. We could have gotten more done and maximized on time spent if the team was consistent overall.

Current Employee
Technical Agent (Current Employee), Kentville, Nova Scotia – February 15, 2013
Pros: benefits
Cons: low pay, long hours, dead end job, rude customers
I currently work at a call center for Rogers and can say that the benefits are great. That is about everything I like about the job. The pay is horrible, $1.50 less than my last job as a cashier. Hours are currently 10 hours a day (only 9 paid), 5 days a week. Does not leave much time for family. For the most part the customers are horrible. I spend – more... my days getting cursed and yelled at because of the problems people have with service provided by Rogers. – less

Lets Talk
Call Centre (Former Employee), Kitchener – February 12, 2013
Being it is Bell's Lets talk day, I decided to talk about my experience with mental health at Rogers. I had a breakdown with depression and had my Doctor filling out all the forms for me to have time off. They have a 3rd party that becomes involved when you have more than a few days off. They felt that as soon as you got your pills from the Dr. you – more... were ready to come back full time. They constantly harassed me to come back, making my situation worse and eventually forcing me out. – less

I have very mixed feelings about them as a place to work.
Customer Service (Former Employee), Toronto, ON – January 31, 2013
Pros: great pay and good benefits
Cons: long hours, frequent changes to policies, changing working hours, unfriendly management
The company is very demanding when it comes to attendance if your full time and if you are absent 22.5 hrs or more during a quarter you get put on a step for your not so good attendance. If you reach step 4 your fired btw. The company also tries to find patterned absenteeism. The procedure for calling in sick frequently changes someones I would have – more... to call 4 different phone numbers to call in sick and these days they force you to meet with an attendance manager when you come back from every absence even if your away for one day.

I found some of the managers to be nice and positive while others where very micromanaging and unhelpful. You would ask different managers the same question and you'll get very different answers.
I find the company tends to believe in using a lot of negative enforcement.

The hardest part of the job is not only dealing with demand and unreasonable people on the phone but so having to meet so many targets.

Its very hard to get a promotion they only promote people that are the top performers.

The most enjoyable part of the job is making the customers happy and being able to help them. – less

Defenitely the worse work environement ( specially Pickering)
Opposed to become a Robot (Former Employee), Pickering, on – January 28, 2013
Pros: decent pay, people are ok
Cons: management is robotic, no imagination, most of the time lacks intellectual coherence in thought and speech
I was with Rogers for over 10 years, in various customer facing and back office roles, but my experience with Pickering was the worst. It was extremely unprofessional, to an extent that employees were encouraged to be unfriendly to each other and customers. It seemed the vision for that site was very convoluted.Rife with minions drinking the foul elixir – more... of corporate politics, only to make sure they take themselves down with others. I would assume the corporate would be a better place to work (i.e. Downtown), otherwise the call center(s) are filled with pocket of black-holes ( pun intended). – less

Hard Work = High Pay
PRODUCT SPECIALIST (Former Employee), Toronto, ON – January 14, 2013
The pay is great, however as an employee you have to withstand verbal abuse and other unpleasant scenarios. While the pay does justify the job, it can wear you down pretty quickly.
