best job I've ever had
Director (Current Employee) –  Saratoga, CADecember 5, 2015
Imagine a place where your work wasn't confined by "this is how everyone else does it", office politics or big company bureaucracy. Instead you get to figure out the best way for you and the company to solve your work challenges. The people are super smart, helpful and a genuine pleasure to work with. The CEO is very innovative but super down to earth. It's a very flat org - get more done with small teams. There are quarterly comp reviews, unlimited time off and no performance reviews. It's all about ownership of your work and making good decisions while collaborating with others in the company. It's is not a place where you goof off and play games, or get massages. It's not a place where everyone is after the next promotion. They don't do charity work or have family parties. But is that what a job is really about? If you want to be challenged daily to make the the best product in a challenging new market at a place where you will be empowered to self manage yourself while working with a great team (and be paid well) - this is it. Hands down the best place I've ever worked.
Pros
Great culture, challenging work, great people, good snacks
Cons
Not fancy.

Its a great place to work
Senior Talent Acquisition Partner (Current Employee) –  New York, NYJuly 21, 2015
Roku has a great product. One of the best products in its market category and one that gives Apple a real run for its money. The culture is typical of a Bay Area company.

Poor management and no communication between locations make this a bad place to work.
Commercial Freight Warehouse Clerk (Former Employee) –  Scotts Valley, CANovember 14, 2014
I worked for Roku for over 2 years in the companies warehouse. Raises were always promised but never given. The corporate office never really seemed to know what they were doing and failed to communicate important information to us multiple times. Except for a few, management never had the workers interest in mind. They looked out for themselves and there were even a couple times when their mistakes ended up getting blamed on their workers. If you're looking for a place where hard work and quality performance is acknowledged and rewarded don't go here.
Pros
company provides snacks every two weeks.
Cons
poor management, no representation from management, bad communication throughout the company, poor compensation and minimal room for advancement.

Every day is an adventure

Top-heavy management. No real structure. Culture of fear and fear-driven management. Opinions rarely matter and are better kept to yourself. Mavericks NOT nurtured.
Pros
great pay. great product.
Cons
the pay will enslave you.
