Pros: being outside
Cons: no benefit package at the time
A roofing job is very heightful, and must have stability and security. One wrong move and you will be out of work for a while or permanently. I enjoying roofing I learned different techniques when roofing.

Bad, unorganized
Foreman/Supervisor (Former Employee), Lake Charles, LADecember 4, 2013
We would clear debris using shovels, lifts, and wenches. I learned here first how to manage a team. They were all hard working fellas, but our employer was never there, and as soon as we got there, the pay stopped 2 weeks later. We all stayed the rest of the month because thats when he said it would come, but never did. So as a group, we left back to – more... texas. It felt good to help out, but the thing i hated most about the job was finding dead bodies. – less

Fast past and unbalanced work place.
Roofer Helper (Former Employee), Virginia Beach, VAOctober 28, 2013
A typical day here would mainly consist of picking up gravel, cleaning work area and handling work tools. While being employed here I've learned very little being that my part was only really manual labor. The hardest part about working here was the really heavy lifting in 90 degree weather. As far as my co-workers they was very laid back and knew that – more... they was in the struggle with me. – less

Laborer, shingler, sales (Former Employee), Ridgecrest, CAOctober 11, 2013
Roofing was a job that was rough on the body. I liked it though because you can see your progress throughout the day and see that you have accomplished something. And with how everyone else can see your work it makes you strive to do better.

Roofing: What isn't awesome about it?
Laborer (Former Employee), Hillsboro, OHJuly 19, 2013
Pros: awesome co-workers
Wake up early, go to the office, get in truck, go to job site, do hard labor in the hot sun, go home. I learned I'd prefer not to roof for the rest of my life, but I definitely learned how to roof and fix leaks and stuff which will be great if I ever have any of those happen in my lifetime and I will. My co-workers were really hard-working and awesome – more... dudes. They always cracked me up and helped when I needed it. The management was hard working as well and would even get on the roof and help. The hardest part of the job is the labor itself, but the most enjoyable part is the people you get to work with. – less
