Room 5, with its backbone of veterans and visionaries from every corner of software development and design, has stood by many clients facing this challenge. Recently, a top semiconductor company approached Room 5 to help them roll out a new semiconductor architecture. The new product will provide a quantum leap in computational efficiency for a certain class of algorithm, but requires a highly specialized programming environment. When presenting a new semiconductor architecture to the market the user facing tools will need to fulfill several critical functions:
Educational: teach new users the underlying architecture and capabilities of the device
Design: provide a visual environment to support the creation of complex designs
Debug: simulate and debug complex new designs to run on the chip
Sales channel: demonstrate the value of the product in sales engagements and trade show environments
This company came to Room 5 because of our extensive experience in both UX design, embedded software development and design architectures. They asked us to take their concept and make it more accessible through a graphical language that integrates their written language, while allowing for complex expression in hierarchal graphics. To formulate a solution, we pulled the data processing experts on our teams, individuals that had built multi-processor architectures and created graphical interfaces for them in the past. We combined their experience with our UX and UI design expertise. We considered what we would do if we were launching the product as our own, how we would want it to work and how we would present it to customers. We viewed our client's success as equal to our own, and used that perspective to guide our thinking.
We proposed our solution to a team of 5 PhDs and 3 engineering managers-one for hardware, one for software, and one for architecture. The choice to pursue our solution was unanimous, and the company, who is now a Room 5 client, shared that our proposal went above and beyond their expectations by included new application concepts for the technology. In doing so, Room5 become more than a software consulting partner, we became a true partner in our clients success.
Room 5 is now in the process of producing the first version of this project. We are looking forward to seeing our client changing the way the world thinks about conventional processor architectures. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
