About Round Table Pizza
If King Arthur's knights had sat at this Round Table, they would have been eating pizza. Round Table Pizza operates a chain of about 450 family-oriented pizza parlors located primarily in the western US. The pizzerias are known for the colorful names given to menu items, including Guinevere's Garden Delight and Montague's All Meat Marvel. Round Table – more... also serves sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. The eateries offer dine-in seating along with carry-out and delivery services. William Larson opened the first Round Table Pizza in 1959 and began franchising the restaurant concept three years later. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2011 before emerging late that same year.
Round Table Pizza used the restructuring process to improve its cash flow, reorganize its debt, and stabilize the business. The company shuttered about 20 underperforming company-owned restaurants and kept the majority of its company-owned locations and all of its franchised locations open.
Shortly after seeking bankruptcy protection in early 2011, company president Rob McCourt was named CEO. The reorganization process was completed in December 2011.
Round Table Pizza expects to open 10 new domestic locations in 2012. The company will look overseas for growth as well, with plans to open 20 restaurants in Vietnam and eventually more Round Table Pizza locations in other parts of Asia. – less
