Personnel Generalist, Tonawanda, NY - February 27, 2014
Part of a two person team that performed all aspects of Human Resource Management. Each day there were a variety of duties from processing hourly payroll, keeping employment records, filing required workers comp, OSHA, employment forms,... working with insurance reps, handling safety and wellness issues, benefit administration, recruiting... I enjoyed building relationships with employees at all levels of the company. Co-workers were all supportive of each other, as we all ran with rather lean departments and wore many hats. The hardest part of the job tended to involve union grievances and negotiations - which I only assisted with. It was not my area of responsibility. During my tenure I learned the value of accurate communication, that organization was key to multi- tasking, and that treating all levels of employees with respect is key to maintaining a stable workforce. I had a very supportive, informative boss who let me work in many areas and coached and "taught" along the way. The management team were all very good to work with and were generally repectful of our office and what we were doing for the company. Left for family reasons, but loved the job - would have stayed if I could have!
