No room for advancement in the financial fields. No extras are to be expected. Do you job, go home... I think some of the company culture is trying to change but not quite there yet

A typical day at work consist of metal management. You will learn management skills. The hardest part of the job is learning the computer. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new people.

Room for advancement if willing to relocate. Work environment is stable and people tend to get along. A lot of turnover due to the hiring of fresh out of college graduates.

Freight Shipping Agent (Former Employee) –  Blytheville, ARJanuary 18, 2017
Company was a good company to work for. However, the company would be better run if it was under new management. Management was to biased towards certain staff members.

Quality Manager (Former Employee) –  Little Rock, ARNovember 16, 2016
I enjoyed the work a lot. I moved up quickly in the quality department through self training/reading books. The upper management is all sales men that separate themselves from production/fabrication and quality.

Consultant Positions
Consultant (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILNovember 14, 2016
Meetings for new teams, expenses and occasional assistance with AP work.

I learned a lot about the AP work.

Management was fine.

Co-workers were limited due to small office size but when together was pleasant.

The challenges of dealing with learning a new system and management.

I really felt having the prior knowledge was useful in working with others.
Pros
Learning opportunities for new systems.
Cons
Trying to explain things to upper management when they did not understand.

truck driver (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNOctober 20, 2016
my typical day driving consists of driving on intersate and in the city.the traffic can be congested at times.you have to be alert and watch out for the other drivers.safety is the utmost factor in delivery.the management at ryerson are there for an employee to help in a situation if you have to take care of family or an illness.the other drivers are like brothers.we all get along and help one another.there really isnt a hard part of the job.i would say stapping down heavy gauge steel or pipes.i enjoyed traveling and meeting people at job sites.

Inside Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  ArkansasSeptember 21, 2016
After 30+ years I enjoyed my co-workers and had a productive and rewarding career. Always felt that this is where I would retire but overall direction of company has changed to where an employee's commitment and loyalty is no longer valued.
