Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Warehouse Foreman, Forklift Operators, Utility workers and temporary employees.
The Warehouse Supervisor has general responsibility for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities on a daily basis. Under the direction of the General Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving; warehousing and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.
Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly put away of product, picking, staging and loading of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible levels of productivity. Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all products are properly counted.
Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage & temperature abuse.
Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment.
Participate in establishing work schedules. Ensure that the schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
Maintain product locator system. Ensure the optimal utilization of space through warehouse consolidation. Rotate product as appropriate.
Safety, Sanitation, Security:
Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Conduct operations in accordance with OSHA Standards, as well as established company safety policies and procedures.
Direct the operations of the warehouse team to achieve prescribed objectives. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, counseling and disciplining subordinates. Provide input into the performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and terminations.
Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
Assure the integrity of the inventory and assist in conducting physical inventories.
Attend warehouse meetings. Interact with Transportation, Customer Service, Personnel, customers and employees. Act as a liaison between employees and management.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Keen eye for detail and emphasis on safety and accident prevention.
- Supervisory and warehouse experience preferred.
- Sound judgment and decision making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High school diploma and some college are preferable.
- Strong math and computer skills.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment and be certifiable.
