SJB Child Development Centers, San Jose, CA.

Mission
SJB provides educational child care for children 0 to 12 years of age to strengthen and support families throughout Santa Clara County

Position
The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the overall administration and management of SJB Child Development Centers including all programs and general operations. Areas of responsibility include planning and evaluation, policy development and administration, personnel and fiscal management, fundraising activities, and public relations.
This is a full-time position, hired by and directly accountable to the Board of Directors through its board president. The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the entire SJB organization; further advancing the mission while achieving strategic objectives. The Executive Director must be able to consistently and successfully perform all essential functions of the position. This position is an at-will employment position. Board Relations
 Assists the board president in planning the agenda and materials for board meetings.
 Facilitates the orientation of new board members.
 Participates on all board committees as appropriate.
 Participate with the Board of Directors in further developing organizational goals and objectives consistent with the mission and vision.
 Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the organization.
 Foster effective team work between the Board and the Executive Director.
 Reports regularly to the board of directors on the status of the organization and its programs.
 Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend change to the Board as appropriate.

Program Planning and Management
 Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization's programs and services.
 Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the organization to maintain or improve quality.
 Determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery.
 Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies and procedures.
 Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all legislation and regulations.
 Follow performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review.
 Supervises management and any disciplinary actions taken by management.

Financial Planning and Management
 Work with staff and the Board to prepare a comprehensive budget.
 Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board.
 Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed.
 Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization.
 Provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the organization.

Qualifications
 8+ years executive level leadership experience in a non-profit, voluntarism, or Philanthropic organization preferred.
 Bachelors Degree required; MBA or Masters Degree in Public Policy, Non-profit Management or similar field preferred.
 Must have experience and knowledge of child care programs and developmental stages of preschool children.
 Knowledge of State of California contracts and experience with Federal Head Start Program.
 Proven track record in fundraising and board development.
 Experience with budgeting, strategic planning, and managing staff and volunteers.
 Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, and project management.
 Grasp of educational theories, play research, and early-childhood programs preferred.
 Excellent computer skills for donor management, budgets, and promotional materials.
 Energetic self-starter, with ability to be motivated and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
 Personal integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission and goals of the organization.
 Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
 Must successfully pass a criminal background check, physical examination and Tuberculin (TB) screening prior to employment.
 Must have a valid California Driver’s License, clean driving record, and daily use of a personal insured vehicle.
