Current employee here on the sales side. CPA sales side has a relatively negative perception by people who have come and gone, which is typical at most companies, but the culture has truly changed on this side under new management and direction. It does require cold calling, prospecting, and everything else involved in a typical sales job. But what's truly unique here is that you essentially control your fate. There is six figure potential within your first year that would take years at any other software sales gig and, beyond that, there's room for maneuvering into areas of the company as well (marketing, consulting, etc.).
Don't let the naysayers who couldn't cut it ruin your chances here. If you have great work ethic, can stay on the horn, and aren't afraid to get told "not interested" from time to time, you can do well here. Sageworks has a great product in ProfitCents.
