Mental Health Technician, Smithville, MO - May 11, 2015
St. Luke's means well, and I believe that. They do have a best practices policy that employees adhere to, but they are not realistic about what all employees are capable of or what they should be doing. Pay is also low, but the other benefits are excellent. The hardest part of the job was being expected to float to units like Med/Surg, ICU, or PCU and being a mental health professional. I didn't feel comfortable and had I been a patient or a patient's family member I would have been very upset if someone trained in de-escalation showed up to care for me or my loved one.
