Whether your team makes field goals or financial goals, SanMar wants to help you show your team spirit. The firm supplies some 1,000 different imprintable sportswear and accessory items to screen printers, embroiderers, promotional products distributors, and athletics dealers. SanMar markets T-shirts, golf shirts, hats, bags, and other products. It's the exclusive distributor for the NIKE Golf, New Era, and OGIO brands and makes clothing under private labels Port Authority, District Threads, Sport-Tek, CornerStone, and Precious Cargo. SanMar sells Columbia Sportswear, Jerzees, Hanes, Gildan, Eddie Bauer, and Outer Banks lines, as well. Executive Marty Lott founded the family-owned business in 1971.
Headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, (about 20 miles east of Seattle) since 2012, SanMar distributes its products from seven national warehouses that boast more than 3 million sq. ft. They're located in Florida, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Minnesota, and Washington. The company opened a warehouse in Minneapolis in 2012 and another in New Jersey in 2011 to better serve customers in these regions.
As part of its strategy, SanMar regularly rolls out new collections and partners with other companies to boost its portfolio of brands. In 2012 the apparel distributor added the District and District Made clothing lines of relaxed apparel to cater to schools and offices. (Through its marketing services unit, the company helps corporations and schools sell customized items.) It also inked deals to begin carrying Eddie Bauer- and First Ascent-branded outerwear styles.
SanMar celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011. Marty Lott launched SanMar as part of a college assignment, and initially worked in the basement of his father's company. Lott's father had first used the SanMar name (derived by combining his children's names) for his own company. – less
