Web Product Manager/Web Producer, Remote (Contract or Freelance to Perm)

We are searching for a clever, truly proactive, very detail-oriented individual to oversee the maintenance of our existing web products from the content and component standpoint, and the planning and creation of new web products per project requirements. This is a position on our Technology team, working closely with the Marketing team for website's content, SEO, and product management functions. You will need to be the voice of the Technology team in project team meetings, and be an effective liaison with the Marketing team and business users, working closely with them to understand requirements and client objectives for web products.

What does this mean exactly?

Here are the Musts:
You must have effective written communication skills, be able to write copy for landing and home pages and write all directional text for web pages. You must, as above, be very detailed and have proofreading and copyediting abilities, and master essential grammar and punctuation skills. Online marketing skills will be a plus for this area. This skill will be tested during final round of interview process.

You must be very thorough, with fundamental proofreading skills, familiar working with websites, and be able to, for instance, perform quality assurance and inspect web pages for anything that is out of sorts, not working, incorrect, and be very detailed to ensure all edits have been made when the pages come back from programmers. This is a must and final round candidates will be tested on this aspect during interview process.

You will need to be a self-motivated personality type, able to take initiative, talk proactively with team members and able to capture requirements, asking the right questions to understand what the web product needs to be, or do, or accomplish. From meeting with key team members, you should then be able to put together a set of website requirements for programmers – what will be on each web page, how each web page should work, what it should do, when you click here, it should do this, etc. You will need to be capable of formulating user stories, to enable web designers and programmers to construct the pages.

You should understand website usability and navigation – how a website should work, how it should flow, how people expect to see and use websites, how to get from point A to point B, what is the standard, best way to navigate throughout a website.

You will need to have presentation skills – again, outgoing, with strong verbal communication ability, to speak with team members and management, and present the Technology team’s progress and project status in meetings.

You must be able to juggle several things at once with revolving deadlines, and understand how to prioritize during busy periods. You need to have the ability to function in a quick paced environment when it’s required.

And lastly, you must be eager and enthusiastic to learn and master this role and its responsibilities. You’ll need to take ownership of and have a very active role in our web products, be completely accountable, and willing to acquire the skills below in the “pluses” that you don’t walk in the door with.

And here are Pluses – we’d like you to already have experience with some things from the list below (please discuss in your cover letter):
· Understanding/experience with simple Wireframes/Layouts
· SEO
· Web design concepts and working with web designers to create web pages and products
· Use case scenarios

Details
This role is contract- or freelance- to perm position. We would like for us to try each other out for 6 weeks before you come on as a full-time employee. This can be a full-time contract 6-week period, or a project-based period—we can work out details with right candidate. You will need to use your own equipment during this initial period only. You’ll need a computer with a strong Internet connection, and web camera capability (Skype or FaceTime). Once you are hired on full time we will supply all needed equipment.

Once hired, this is is a full-time, remote position. Salary range for this position is $43K – 48K based on experience, plus subsidized company benefits, including health plan.

SanovaWorks offers a flexible, results-based workplace (ROWE), and our employees must have the ability and aptitude to perform their job functions while working remotely/virtually, and function within a remote/virtual team environment. With our flex-hours workplace, a portion of your workload can be completed at your own pace. We focus on deadlines met/results/tasks completed rather than hours logged. Hours are semi-flexible, with a portion of your responsibilities needing to be done during office hours (eastern time zone) including department and project team meetings, and some responsibilities open to making your own hours.
