About Savage Companies
Through a collection of subsidiaries led by Savage Services Corporation, Savage Companies arranges transportation of bulk cargo and provides materials handling services from facilities throughout the US and in parts of Canada. Freight handled by the company includes chemicals, construction materials, food-grade products, mineral products (including – more... coal, petroleum coke, and sulfur), plastics, and waste products. Savage arranges for bulk cargo to be transported over the water (by barge or tanker), over the road, and over the rails. Its materials management services include transferring cargo between carriers; it also contracts to handle bulk materials at customers' plants. Savage began operations in 1946.
At the end of 2008, Savage enhanced its rail services portfolio when it acquired the locomotive and rail services assets of Quality Rail Services (QRS), based in Colorado. QRS offered outsourced fueling, mechanical, engineering, and other related services to the locomotive industry.
