I work there at Schneider National Dallas OC. I'm a local intermodal driver. The personnel there are good people but much has to be desired when it comes to pay. Your weekly hours can be from 55 hours to 70 hours (in 5 Days). You don't get paid by the hour. You get what's called "activity pay" but it equals out to be +/- about $10 an hour. This is from the time you get to work until you leave,or the amount of time your available to them to dispatch you and negotiate loads. Average pay for when your actually driving is more like +/- $15 an hour. There is no overtime and if your owed any money it usually takes 2 months to get it, but they will pay if your owed. I have received increase to pay but the is a matter of opinion. On the "activity pay" they do have a base minimum in case you have a bad week. I have had that increased, but I have never hit my minimum. So I have never seen this "increased pay" as it's called. So why am I still there? I like the people I work with. Management does care about you the driver and for the most part listen to your concerns. They are very sticked on safety. If you like dignity and respect, Schneider at Dallas is good to go. If your looking for pay, I recommend you look else where. Recently, I've started looking for other opportunities else where. My main complaint are the customers we have. Most of them are complex (or just plain stupid) and have many times cost me the days work, yes, do just that 1 load and that was my day. The average day is 3 - 4 loads. The compensation doesn't match the time and effort put in to deal with them. From what I hear, J.B. Hunt, Swift, NFI and a few others are not much better when it comes to pay. I hope this review is helpful.

Do you work at Schneider National? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?
Any advice for someone trying to get in?

I had a recruiter tell me they were hiring for bulk drivers and that I would be out 1-2 days then home. When I had the interview they said they had no Bulk Jobs available and even it they did I would only be home 6 days per month. They had no idea why the recruiter said what he did but if I was interested they had long haul available. I told them if the recruiter lied what would the company do later. Sorry , no sale.
Beware of their story

What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable?
How does Schneider National stack up against the competition?

It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Schneider National?
Any advice on striking the right note?

i went to the schneider training facility in green bay. my advice is to find another way to train or get your cdl!
my class arrived right as the previous class was about to finish up so we overlapped.
of the appx 100 people that start each class only 20 will actually graduate. for one reason or another they will either make you leave on your own or they get rid of you so that they end up with about 20 graduates who get jobs, the rest of you will be saddled with the tuition fees up to appx $2000.00
if you graduate or not. i left because they did not do as they promised they would do and didnt follow through. and the food they promise is continental breakfast in the motel lobby and some nasty cater in food at the school. enter at your own risk if you decide to go to this facility

My mother works for Schneider and says there are rumors that Schneider will go bankrupt. She has also seen today that there are much less workers working. She has asked me to go out online and see if I can find any info on the status of the company. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

18$ An hour maximum pay for a second shift position that involves weekends is kind of low. This position is basically a dispatching position that involves no brainwork and babysitting children.

Yes. You may become liable for the tuition but not receive a job.
