No real interview, just going over your information and records on the phone. After that is orientation as described above at and operating/training center. 4 days for experienced, 3 weeks for not.
How is the hotel rooms in Phoenix AZ for driver trainees?
It's a 3 week interview process, you start on a Tuesday and that's when your 3 weeks begins. The first day is the physical test to make sure you are physically fit for the job. From Wednesday to sat you are in the class room learning the log books and out in the yard doing pretrips, couple/uncoupling, brake test, post trip, and a lot of driving and backing (no freeway). The whole 2nd week you are out with a Training engineer and you will be out in the road getting some real experience, you will doing all the driving, backing and inspection of the truck, make sure you bring sleeping clothes and warm gears because you will regret it ( it was a great experience for me). 3rd week you will be back in the class room learning the Qualcomm and trip planning. You will be tested on everything. Take in everything they tell you and don't do anything that makes you or other unsafe. Safety is always first with this company and if they see you doing something stupid and careless they will not hesitate to send you home. Be safe out there.
You basically have a 3 week interview if you're not an experienced driver. The first week is learning the system. Week 2 is driving with a trainer. 3rd week is "soft skills", learning the computers and trip planning and taking your qualification test. If you fail your qualification test 2x you'll go home.
Not very lengthy, thorough and they'll get you started right away if you qualify.

Mostly a phone interview

Not complicated. As long as you live in an acceptable area, and have a decent work history you will considered.
