  • Expert level design and administration of iSeries and AIX hardware and operating systems.
  • Manage complex AIX and iSeries (System i) environments running latest pSeries and iSeries technologies such as LPARs, Micropartioning, Virtual IO, etc.
  • Extensive iSeries and pSeries Security and Auditing experience.
  • Software and Hardware Installations and Configurations.
  • Performance and Application Tuning.
  • Install or perform OS upgrades up to the current levels ( System I OS and AIX)
  • PTFs / patch updates mastery (including HMC and FSP).
  • Disaster Recovery Preparedness and Testing. (Past experience with MiMix, iTera, HACMP a plus)
  • Knowledge of CL programming and Unix scripting.
  • Document and develop the standards for server hardware and software.
  • Primary platform support person for all AIX environments.
  • Recent hands-on expertise in the following disciplines: AIX system administration, performance tuning, HACMP clustering, LPAR, Micropartioning, Current Storage Technologies, Solving complex problems related to Unix/Linux operating systems, Server hardening, Data Management, Networking,
  • Engineer and design security solutions that meet all security standards and requirements that satisfy governance principals and best practices (SOX and PCI regulatory requirements).
  • Broad knowledge and high technical expertise across all components of Network Architectures, devices, and protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems in multi-software environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise of server hardware and software configurations, functional design, networking protocols, and data analysis.
  • Fiber Switch port configuration experience a plus.
  • Work flexible hours with occasional after hours support.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of business process implications underlying critical systems.
  • Proficient PC skills include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal).
  • Project Management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • On-call availability including holidays and weekends as necessary.

Qualifications - Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT.
  • Minimum of five years in iSeries and pSeries AIX System Administration is required.
  • Clear thinking to perform procedures and to consistently exercise discretion and judgment.
  • IBM System i, iSeries or iSeries hardware and operating system expertise (V7.1).
  • Knowledge of basic CL programming.
  • Knowledge of iSeries infrastructure includes: OS/400, iSeries Command Language, System 36 Environment, Journaling, Client Access, Communications (Ethernet, SDLC, TCP/IP, ODBC), RJE.
  • Knowledge of IBM’s BRMS.
  • Knowledge of the following software a plus (JD Edwards Enterprise 1, Varsity, RVI, DataMirror, iTera, Mimix, Turnover, TeamTrack, ServiceNow, Extol EDI, Kronos, JD Edwards World Vision, Showcase Strategy, Crypto Complete).
  • Experienced with LPARs, Enforcive, BRMS. Familiarity with system monitoring software (messenger plus), MB Software, Performance Navigator.
  • Proficiency with iSeries client access and iSeries Navigator including SSL configuration.
  • System Analitical skills a must.
  • iSeries/System Performance Tuning expertise.
  • TCP/IP configuration, troubleshooting and implementation a must.
  • Auditing and journal maintenance experience.
  • On-call availability including holidays and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to adapt to self-educate on new technologies to provide assistance and/or recommendations regarding its usage.
  • WEB Deployment (Manual and/or Rational Developer tool), WebSphere Application Server administration.
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Display a commitment to quality, strong multi-tasking skills and an aptitude for leadership.
  • Hardware upgrade experience.
  • Must be able to travel to other states
  • Travel will be less than 10% of the time.
