entertaining dealing with children
Student Service Assistance (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAAugust 2, 2017
Its entertaining dealing with children, however it was a part-time job, cannot work overtime at all, and no benefits. Must have patience, the kids curse you out on a daily for no reason. A student stole money from one of my coworkers and because they didn't physically caught him he wasn't held accountable, even though the camera seen him sneak in our locker room (which only staff are "allowed" in).
Pros
holidays off and paid
Cons
no break since it was only a four hour shift, cant work overtime

I didn't make a lot of money working for this company at the time, however you will have to experience the job for yourself. Things have since changed and it may be better now.

Mathematics Teacher (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJuly 14, 2017
The kids are terrible, the administration does not support you, their are constant cut backs on pay, constant pressure about test scores, and you have the possibility of being assaulted. Enough with one sentence.

At the School District of Philadelphia, teachers are accorded the opportunity for personal growth via professional development throughput the year. Personal growth workshops included improving delivery of instruction to students, being able to identify key elements of student trauma and suicidal ideations, among others. One could also choose online format for self-enrichment.

Again, it depends what school you are at and under what administrator. Some days can be stressful, some not. It also depends on your position and your colleagues.

I believe the work life balance here is wonderful and the depending on your department it can be flexible. You also get all major holidays off and the benefits are not bad either. Growth is always encouraged and excepted when you have been with the district for a while too.
Pros
Food uses the main headquarters daily

No leadership or support
High School Math Teacher (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJune 24, 2017
Many teachers are thrown into a new school with no support, many of the principals and vice principals are too busy with policy work to give the faculty and staff the support needed. Some only worry about how they are affected and their reviews.
Pros
Other Teachers are very supportive
Cons
Administration will throw subordinates under the bus to save their skins.
