Measurements While Drilling Field Engineer (Former Employee) –  Charleroi, PAMarch 1, 2017
a lot of good people work here. They seem to pay on the lower end of scale. A lot of air work which is like call out work... Jobs only last for a couple days. The MWD coordinator is a pretty serious guy but he is fair and gets the job done

Quality Control / Directional Drilling Technician (Current Employee) –  Bentleyville, PAFebruary 10, 2017
It is a very relaxed place to work. With no exact schedule as people arrive at all times of the day with no issue. Bosses understand when weather is bad you will possibly be late.
Pros
Relaxed workplace
Cons
Low pay and long work days

Directional Driller (Former Employee) –  Grand Junction, COJanuary 19, 2017
There is No life outside of work. You live on the rig and only get to go home on rig moves. The most enjoyable part was the income.

Solution Architect/Managing Consultant (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXDecember 22, 2016
It is a good company to work for, however due to oil price drop, drilling industry has suffered lately. It is an engineering high tech company with global presence and has pro-active aggressive culture.

Global Operations Manager (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXNovember 13, 2016
Good company in a downturn market but senior management is fractured and long term strategy for company is heavily dependent on the price of WTI/Brent.

The job its self is fun and challenging
Motor Technician 3 (Former Employee) –  CaliforniaJuly 28, 2016
The job is great and fun work, but the people there draw all that away. Because of that they have a very high turn over rate. It is a great skill to learn and many advancements if you can work with the job culture the other shop hands have created.
Pros
Fun, Fast Pace, Every day comes a new challenge.
Cons
Oil field-expect lay offs. horrible reputation because of other workers.

Field MWD Tech. (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXFebruary 22, 2016
start and finish monitoring computers, real time down hole electronics data minute to minute. safety and operations are learned daily, management views all data and operation daily for quality standards. With the leadership in office and co-worker assistance no problems were unsolvable, but i would say the long hours and days away from home could be very stressful! Rewards were great in looking back on a job well done, with everyone safe and another happy customer .
Pros
perdium payments
Cons
long time periods away from home

I love my job but oil prices are going down and work is getting slow.
Lead MWD Operator (Current Employee) –  Central OklahomaJanuary 20, 2016
My current job requires a lot of time away from home working on an Oil Rig. I work for a directional drilling company that steers the well in the direction that the well plan and company desires. I usually work at least 12 hours a day and have 1 other person rotate shifts with me working the other 12 hours. I live on location during drilling procedures and I am responsible for the entire job including the tools that we use and the end of well files.
Pros
The Pay.
Cons
Time away from my family.

Pros
Great pay, fule payed

away from home alot and high stress

MWD Field Engineer (Former Employee) –  Grand Junction, COSeptember 20, 2015
Great place to learn, but they pay the lowest compared to all the competition.
They have great tools, but they need to value their employees better.

District HSE Manager (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXSeptember 15, 2015
Great company but too much favoritism and not enough pay increases. Co workers were friendly and supportive, but direct management showed to much favoritism for certain people and was not available or supportive when needed.
Pros
Freedom of work hours, innovative, friendly
Cons
Not enough support, too much favoritism, not enough pay increases

Short and sweet.

Surveyor (Former Employee) –  Midland, TXAugust 2, 2015
Run in hole with survey tool then rig down,
you can only hope that the lazy hands reheaded the truck and that the truck was not going to die while you were in the hole.
The co-workers are what they are hands.
Pros
Don't have to be at the shop if you don' have a job
