Best Job Ever
Patient Care Technician-II (Former Employee), Scottsdale, AZ – August 8, 2012
Pros: flexible hours, wonderful coworkers, rewarding job.
Cons: long shifts. difficult patients.
Scottsdale Healthcare at Thompson Peak was the best job I've had in my life. The hours were long, and the job stressful, but the people I worked with, and the quality of the work environment were absolutely stellar.

I left the job for financial reasons, although it was not because I was unfairly compensated by the organization.

Excellent benefits, – more... excellent retirement, excellent staff.

Best job I've ever had. – less

Cons: high stress, drama, hr doesn't care
Man it is fast paced in the er BUT there is such high turnover in the whole hospital!!!!! I wanted a stable environment and that is not what you get....people are very catty, snitch on each other, tons of drama....just awful!!!! Management isn't great either....it doe sdepend on who you know and how well you work there system....overall the place sucks.......You – more... can't even take your pto days after you earned them, pulling your tooth whould be easier.....so why bother to have them??? They won't let you without an issue.....!!!! Too much stress and changes everyday.....I would pass this place up to work for....They are not the "best place in scottsdale to work" – less

Patient Financial Services
Patient Financial Services Representative (Former Employee), Scottsdale, AZ – June 17, 2012
I learned that medical billing can be extremely complicated to the average patient. Trying to help patients understand the itemized billing is challenging and at times impossible. Sometimes just lending a sympathetic ear is the only way to overcome the many errors and obstacles.

yup I agree micro management to the max!!! They don't like or appreciate older workers....cater to the young ones.....not the best place to work......

Ginny – July 2, 2012

I totally agree! As a 10 year veteran of this company I found once I hit my wage ceiling, mangement found ways to shove me out the door. The company's stated mission is in tact, they treat their patients well, but their employees not so well. It is a great place to work if you are mangement, not a direct care-giver. Right now they are the lowest hourly wage in town for my speciality and require no previous experience.

GBlady – July 8, 2012

The ding dongs in senior management under Tom S. must be in bed with each other because the HR that they hire only protect the management and not the employee. This place is a joke for patients too, I'd elaborate with stories but that's what Yelp and Google reviews will note. It's obvious to see from the high turnover and still nothing has changed. This hospital's finances are wasted on attrition because of incompetent, envious management. I needed psychiatric counseling and physical therapy to improve my attitude and straighten my beaten down back.

Something is NOT right in this company thou they "claim" they are a good place to work for,,,HA! they are not unless you play the game you may be ok....HR doesn't care either...If you are older you can forget that too....Stay away it is bad news all the way around....

Heey – April 10, 2013

I totally agree!!!

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
RN (Former Employee), Scottsdale – April 15, 2012
Pros: end of shift
Cons: beginning of shift - one horrible employer!
If you are a talented, exceptional individual, avoid this employer. Mediocrity, incompetence and abusive management practices rule here.
Excellence, intelligence and common sense are abhorred by the clique in power. This is one toxic environment where the herd mentality is encouraged and capable employees are effectively shown the door! Lesson learned: – more... have faith in your abilities and never allow anyone to attempt to reduce you to their pathetic levels as is common policy at SHC. – less

Used to work here, and loved it!
Until my department created a position for somebody not qualified.
it's not what you know, it's WHO.
gave my notice after talking to HR.

good luck!

Christine – April 12, 2012

I am also an ex employee. I worked in the medical records department. I loved it. I agree it's not what you know it is who you know. It doesn't matter if you are a good employee or not if the department supervisor doesn't like you she will do what ever it takes to get rid of you. That is what happened to me. It is a very stressful department to work in. I was told it is not against the law for the supervisor to be mean and nasty to her employees.

JudyJudy – June 11, 2013

They don't seem to get rid of the bad ones- they just keep promoting them. Time for some forced retirement!

Scottsdale healthcare review
Registration Rep (Former Employee), Scottsdale, AZ – April 4, 2012
It is very rewarding to work in the hospital and help others. I felt blessed everyday to touch someones life. Scottsdale healthcare had wonderful benefits. The houser family clinic has horrible management and they are very demeaning. However the management in the main hospital is great.

Great company with great values and rich in culture
Human Resources - Recruiter (Current Employee), Scottsdale, AZ – March 20, 2012
Pros: benefits
Scottsdale Healthcare is a great organization to work for. One has a sense of pride in the work they do because everyone lives by the vision and values of the organization.

Typical from the HR response script, but completely untrue. The vision and values at SHC are good, until you realize they only apply to patients and management. If youre an hourly worker, you're screwed. No longer offer competetive pay, either. Enjoy paycuts, clock punchers, you just got one!
