Truly an negative work environment, nasty managers and physicians not kept in check.
RN, radiology, (Former Employee), La Jolla – May 11, 2013
Pros: benefits
Cons: management discriminates. nasty temperamental doctors allowed to abuse nursing staff
I worked at Scripps. Green Hospital for 15 years. The managers are pressured from upper management to keep costs down.... So as an employee, plan on being terminated as you become an older, more expensive employee.ScrippsHealth is a BUSINESS, not a compassionate healthcare facility. Some nasty physicians are permitted to run roughshod over the Nursing – more... Staff, without any attempt by upper management to curtail their insults or rants.
Management is discriminatory against Race and Religion.
I worked there for 15 yrs I know. I had a stellar Nursing evaluation every year......was fired for being 1 minute late, after hundred of hours of mandatory overtime.
This is the 2nd time I've submitted a negative Review we'll see if it gets posted. If not, this website is sugar coating the Scripps Health Hospitals. BEWARE! – less

Not Working Mother Friendly
Back Office (Former Employee), Carmel Valley – May 6, 2013
Pros: decent benefits/hours. no sick pay.
Cons: difficult to take time for dr's appts. or childcare. difficult to make use of benefits .
I was asked by my Manager to find someone to take care of my sick child, because we were short-staffed. The entire time I worked there we were short-staffed. My experience may have been site-specific...Avoid Carmel Valley location....

Short term (sick pay) cannot be used unless an employee is out 3+ days. If you leave employment, this time is lost. – more... Very meager vacation time per month. – less

Scripps Mercy Hospital was a wonderful place to work.
Staff Nurse/ Pediatrics (Former Employee), San Diego, CA – April 24, 2013
The Pediatric unit at Mercy consisted of a general Pediatric Unit and a Pediatric Special Care Unit. The staff worked on both units. I was responsible for providing primary care to infants and children. I administered medications and managed both centeral and peripheral lines. I learned a great deal from this job. I administered chemotherapy, gave blood – more... transfusions and learned about many different medical conditions. Mercy is a teaching hospital, so I also worked with medical interns and residents. The staff was very friendly and worked well together. Many of the nurses had worked on the unit for a long time, and we became very close. I loved working at Mercy and only left because the Pediatric unit closed. – less

Decent company but overrated in the community
Case Manager (Former Employee), San Diego, CA – April 20, 2013
Pros: pay, benefits after 3 months, free parking
Cons: abusive managers, mean doctors
Very abusive nurse managers and some physicians are intolerant of nurses. I would not recommend this healthcare system to fellow RNs.

Medical Assisting in Cardiology
Medical Assistant (Current Employee), Scripps Health – January 14, 2013
Pros: hour lunch, pto, holiday, free healthcare if qualify, free cooking classes, gym
Cons: too many patients and not enough help, poor pay
A typical day would be rooming many patients, taking vital signs, EKGs, putting on Holters, mobile telemetry devices, calling patients for appointments, ordering lab and procedure orders and scheduling them.
Supervisors are good and fair.
Some co-workers are great to work with and others not.
Being on your feet, in a rush, not being able to spend much – more... time with patients.
Meeting various people and caring for them. – less

Administrative Assitant SSRS Float Pool
Administrative Assistant (Current Employee), San Diego, CA – December 27, 2012
Cons: float pool benefits
I have not ran into an incident that I did not feel at home throughout my journey here with Scripps. My co-workers are aways willing to help, and my managers have taken the extra time to sit with me one in one when needed. Opportunity for growth and education is always highlighted and offered.

Volunteering in the Emergency Department
Medical Assistant/Volunteer (Current Employee), Chula Vista, CA – December 25, 2012
Pros: great staff, life experience, felt pride.
Cons: no cons, it is a continuous experience.
A typical day would be stocking nurse's carts, assisting patients with their needs, assisting the staff, ordering lab tubes, transporting patients. refilling oxygen tanks and much more. I've learned how to manage stress, pressure and optimistic situations. Hardest part was seeing people sick, but the most enjoyable part was being able to help and make – more... a difference in their life. – less

PHLEBOTOMIST (Former Employee), ENCINITAS – December 23, 2012
BEING A FORMER EMPLOYEE I WOULE LIKE TO START BY SAYING, SCRIPPS IS JUST LIKE ANY TYPICAL CORPORATE MONSTER. IF YOU JUST NEED A JOB THAT PAYS THE BILLS....IT GETS THE JOB DONE, BUT THATS IT.. THE MANAGERS, SUPERVISORS, AND STAFF THAT I WORKED WITH IN THE ENCINITAS LABORATORY WERE TERRIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL...MANAGERS WANTING TO GOSSIP ABOUT WH0 SAYS WHAT – more... ABOUT EACH0THER, COWORKERS ENGAGING IN GR0UP CONVERSATIONS AB0UT SEX, TERRITORIAL FEMALES...UGH I AM SO HAPPY THAT I DONT WORK THERE ANYMORE.!!!!! – less

Does not sound like an employee who left willingly...possibly a frustrated person who could not fit in and work well with others. I personally know many people who are employed by scripps encinitas laboratory and they have only said positive things and always mention how much they love their job "It feels like a family when coming to work". I find it sad how some people don't fit in a work place environment due to their lack of normalcy and psychological disorders and blame everyone but themselves for their loss. Too bad

It was a productive and fun place to work
Administrative and Clerical (Former Employee), La Jolla, CA – October 30, 2012
Pros: great benefits
Cons: sometimes short breaks.
Very unpredictable days. They were challenging and yet rewarding. You learn to adapt and go with the flow. Learned and gained experience for well over 15 years. Due to changes in the management, the hardest part about my job was to make the supervisor happy. The most enjoyable part of my experience was working with 26 Superb Cardiologists and 14 NP, – more... 10 fellows, 6 Pulmonologists, Nurses, patients and some of my co-workers. Great place to work. – less

Cons: departmental polics.
Most rewarding place I`ve ever worked. My future dictates that I move on. Very sad to think of leaving.
