We maintain and operate eight recreation areas encompassing more than 213 acres. The department also oversees 28 buildings on these parks. Along with these facilities, the department has a good relationship with both the Bulloch County Board of Education and Georgia Southern University, thus allowing the department to use their facilities at non peak – more... times and visa-versa.

Included in these parks are 38 athletic fields, 10 tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, 11 outdoor basketball courts, walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds and picnic pavilions.

Mill Creek Regional Park, opened in 1993, is a state-of-the-art recreational complex which was funded through a 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. Mill Creek, 1996 USSSA Complex of the Year, has played host to more than 200 tournaments including four national tournaments.

The Community Recreation Division offers instructional programs involving youth and adults. Community Recreation includes the Afterschool Program and Summer Camps, Adults 50+, Therapeutics (persons with disabilities), Instructional Programs, Special Events and Volunteerism.

The Athletics Division offers activities for both youth and adults. Youth programs include baseball, tennis, softball, football, track, basketball, swimming, cheerleading and skill camps. Adult programs include softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer and flag football.

Our services should ensure a better quality of life by:
1.Unifying the cooperative spirit within the county.
2.Communicating the opportunities and advantages of parks and recreation services.
3.Being geographically accessible.
4.Being economically feasible.
5.Networking with community agencies and other recreation providers and schools.

In the Winter of 2004, our staff met to discuss the department's future and our role in the community. Among new program suggestions and long term goals, we decided to create a vision statement. After several rough drafts, this is what we came up with:

"To be a model service organization that promotes healthy lifestyles and responds to changing trends through effective leadership and programming." – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
