Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee), Arkansas –
Pros: fair pay
Cons: senseless papaerwork
Sears can't get modernized as fast as you change your cell phone. Need better management with better sense. Stop losing customers and money by taking care of your employees.

I was led to believe that this was a permanent position and was shocked at the the decision to lay me off. I was told to re-apply for the Summer (2012
Daily deposit clerk to cashier (Former Employee), Tulsa, OK –
Pros: close to home. hours were what i wanted.
Cons: poor management style. poor hiring practices.
I learned that Sears is about to divest the Sears-Kenmore operation to free-standing stores.

I learned that nobody has gotten a raise in three years.

I learned that I was working with some of the unhappiest people in Tulsa.

Not customer/employee friendly
Technician (Former Employee), Auburn, MA –
Cons: no consideration for customers or the employee
Probably one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. Very little regard for the customer or the employee. A bottom line driven business. As long as management is making their numbers, thats all they care about

A Typical Day at work.
Loss Prevention Lead (Current Employee), Oklahoma City, OK –
Pros: good local and store management. team orientated.
Cons: job security, and salary.
Generally my day begins with review of the previous day's sales figures. then the normal management tasks..(i.e. reviewing overages, shortages, shipping, and receiving of high value merchandise...etc.) Training of new employees, and meet with the store staff to talk about accident prevention, shrink control, and general safety. Then to the camera room – more...  to monitor the goings on in the store. The afternoon management team business meeting, conferance calls, giving gaols, and instructions to my staff, then home. – less

Intrepid crew with a real sense of camraderie
Sr. User Experience Architect (Sr. UXA) (Current Employee), Chicago, IL –
Pros: convenient downtown office (ux), bike-friendly, free coffee and soda/pop, fun social events
Cons: still a "cube farm", no showers/locker rooms, office access can be limited by store hours
UX work at Sears is usually fast-paced, operating within a work model somewhere between waterfall and agile, with a multidisciplinary spin. The team is a collection of rockstars, and they do great work.

The downtown offices are relaxed, with a somewhat laid-back vibe, and the suburban HQ is a little more buttoned up, but UX still has its space within – more...  the crisp, corporate atmosphere there. – less

A good place to work if you like challenges and the feeling of accomplishments.
Process Coordinator (Team Leader) (Former Employee), Dallas, TX –
Pros: free parking, free training development classes, recognition awards
A typical workday at Sears Holding meant you would be facing new challenges everyday not all accounts were handled the same. I learned many thing as the company had a awesome training team in place and allowed us to take additional training on the job. Management had a open door policy and were always available to assist. My co-workers were like family – more...  and it was fun working on the team concept. The hardest part of the job was saying goodbye to a company that cared about its employees. I always left the job everyday with the feeling of accomplishment as good customer service was a must. – less

Can change the lives of customers and employees
Store Manager - Kmart (Current Employee), Hoffman Estates, IL –
Pros: great comraderie among peers
Cons: there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day.
Manage between 70-100 employees at a time but the most difficult part of the job is that although assistant managers and department managers are employed and inside the building, most customers and employees want to speak with the store manager.
