I worked for a company that had subsidized housing and market rate housing in its various buildings. Be sure you are describing how well you relate to low income people and their needs. Also it is necessary to be detail oriented. There are several programs with different target populations. If you have the opportunity do attend the yearly HUD conference to meet people and learn from the speakers.

I believe it took about a month between my applying and being hired for the position. There was one phone call to arrange one interview which was conducted by an inter-departmental panel consisting of 3 managers.
