Under direct supervision of the physician, performs a variety of routine administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties include the greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room; taking medical histories; the measurement and recording of vital signs; preparing patients for examination/procedure; and assisting the physician during the examination/procedure, scheduling surgeries and submitting orders. Demonstrates clinical competence. Additionally, the MA role may include coordinating the clerical activities and supporting the front desk activities for patient care in the clinic.The individual in this position will participate in clinic and selected divisional activities to promote effective problem solving and communication.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 year experience is required
REQUIRED: High School Diploma/G.E.D.
REQUIRED: Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health
REQUIRED: Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA);
REQUIRED: Current BLS-C certificate.
REQUIRED: Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient
REQUIRED: Completion of a clinical externship.
REQUIRED: Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
PREFERRED: Previous electronic medical record experience
