SEMCO Energy, Inc. is engaged in natural gas distribution operations in Michigan and Alaska. The Company's Michigan operation is referred to as SEMCO Gas, while the Alaska operation is called ENSTAR. SEMCO Gas is a division of the Company. The ENSTAR operation includes ENSTAR Natural Gas Company, which is a division of SEMCO Energy, Inc., Alaska Pipeline – more... Company (APC), a subsidiary of the Company, and NORSTAR Pipeline Company (NORSTAR), a subsidiary of APC. APC’s transmission system delivers natural gas from producing fields in South Central Alaska to ENSTAR’s Anchorage-area gas distribution system. APC’s only customer is ENSTAR. The Company purchases, transports, distributes and sells natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers. At December 31, 2006, it had approximately 413,000 customers, including 287,000 customers in Michigan and 126,000 customers in Alaska.
