The Feel Good Job of my life!
Senior Caregiver (Current Employee), Akron, OHAugust 19, 2014
Pros: making my clients smile, knowing i made their day special!
Cons: dealing with my one client when she has manic episodes.
This kind of job is one that gives you the greatest feeling of being able to help someone in the end stages of their life. Whether it is helping them get out of bed in the morning and eating their meals, or using the toilet, these senior citizens are so grateful for the kindness and devotion that we give to these wonderful people daily. I have 2 clients – more... that I care for on a full time basis. One needs ambulatory care, and the other is able to walk, but with assistance for the most part. Keeping them smiling, feeling good about themselves and sharing your day with them makes those senior citizens glad that you are with them. What other way to brighten your own day than to make someone else's day something special. It's a feel good job! – less

Pros: incentives
Cons: hard to acheive
In the beginning you are working a lot and then all of a sudden you are not working like you used to and they offer incentives but it is hard to get them. They send you to only one city and when you call in to get some work they claim they do not have any

I learned to help them keep their dignity as such they NEED THAT! Some communication gap at times.I worked well with. they gave good reports by mouth, but not in writing. I didn't find my job hard at all, but it does make a difference if your schedule is being switched around and you not be in formed in time of it. Flexible Managment
Home Health Aide (Current Employee), Ann Arbor, MIJuly 15, 2014
There really is not a typical day due to varying clients and schedule. As an employee you could be just sitting with a client and be mainly hands off or be doing basic nursing assistant type of work with more involved clients. The management is very good about keeping employees out of uncomfortable situations and the varying client base keeps things – more... interesting. – less

Rewarding workplace with amazing elderly clients
Caregiver (Former Employee), Santa Ana, CAJune 30, 2014
Pros: movie day, outings to restaurants, conversations of the past
Working for Senior Helpers was a great experience. While working with elderly clients my time was about learning from their experiences and providing care and assistance to them. Patience and compassion is a big attribute to have in this field and I feel that I was able to perform my duties according to those inherit values. Most days were fairly the – more... same, due to the clients daily routines. Household cleaning, preparing meals, taking the client out for entertainment, or just simply a meal at a restaurant was a routine for a typical day. The most enjoyable part of the job was listening and conversing with the client regarding their past; whether it was during a certain era or some major event, to hear the stories and the emotions behind those memories was well worth the time spent with these wonderful people. – less

Caring company willing to further employee education
Geriatric Nursing Assistant (Former Employee), Urbandale, IAJune 27, 2014
Pros: the clients were amazing to work with
Cons: very irregular schedule
A typical day was never the same from day to day. Itinerant work never is. One thing I learned, is that good route management at the office is essential to getting caregivers to the right place at the right time. I had lots of caring and educated co workers. The hardest part of my job was when my clients were ill or had passed away. The most enjoyable – more... part of my job was being apart of the lives of my wonderful clients. – less

My day at Senior Helpers was a learning experience that I truly enjoyed. I learned a lot on this job and would not change a thing about it. The best part of this job was the clients and their family members.
