A typical day consisted of dealing with customers' needs, working the cash register, stocking shelves, and mopping at the end of the day.
I learned the best way to safely clean areas that may be infected with the hantevirus, found in mouse droppings. Hantevirus was a powerful virus in that area at that time, but no one in Sequoia contracted it. I believe it didn't manifest because we followed the directions provided to us by disease control specialists.
Management was very supportive of their employees, and I appreciated that greatly
My co-workers and I encouraged each other to go on many hikes in the National Park on our days off.
The hardest part of the job was leaving at the end of the season.
The most enjoyable part of the job was being in a National Park as fabulous as Sequoia.
