Caring people but poor pay
ACAP counselor (Former Employee), Wainwright – December 7, 2012
Pros: our clients, transitioning soldiers, are fairly easy going
Cons: the pay is very low for the type of degree you hold!
The hours vary between 9 to 10 hours and we get no breaks. Everyone Is dedicated to the job. We hold Master's degrees however get paid as though we have little college. We constantly lose people because of the hours and pay. There is no advancement possible. Pretty much love the actual work but wish the company valued the employees. The training videos – more... are tedious as well and you'll learn more by being mentored by someone. Convenient locations if you are a military spouse like me but the job doesn't transfer with you. – less

A pretty good company to work for. But the business unit seems to have some leadership issues
Senior Acquisition Analyst (Current Employee), Fairborn, OH – December 4, 2012
Pros: professional co-workers, benefits, educational opportunities
Cons: personnel turmoil, confusing/delaying processes
They have good benefits and salaries. Local management is responsive, approachable and communicates well with workers, though it could improve some. They have good educational and advancement opportunities.
However, there seems to be some leadership/management issues at the VP level. Personnel changes and deletions have caused confusion and turmoil

For those who work in the Headquarters areas, they offer many extra services for the employees such as acknowledgeing individual achievements and management/employee town hall informattive meetings. They also offer educational advancement through company provided courses. Remote employes are not as well communicated with.

Decent but could use work
Data Entry Clerk II (Former Employee), Lee's Summit, MO – November 19, 2012
Pros: set schedule
Cons: random expectations
They have a set benefit package which is rather good, but they do not have a raise system in place. They tend to add to job duties without notice or reason and without compensation. They aren't people orientated, and what little respect they had for their employees deteriorated when the employees attempted to form a union. They will reassign you to – more... a subcontractor without notice or asking your opinion, and then you are at the mercy of the subcontractor's policies which may be radially different from Secro's. If you apply for a position with Serco, they may ship your application off to a subcontractor at the same site. – less

it's ok. The main contract I work on is ending in September 2013 and Serco has been unable to acquire enough work to continue employment for most of the employees in Colorado Springs.

I enjoy the work I do with soldiers transitioning out of the military.
ACAP Call Center Counselor (Current Employee), Fort Knox, KY. – November 4, 2012
Pros: paid vacation and sick days.
Cons: cost of supplemental health care.
Assisting soldiers with their transitional needs telephonically or virtually. I've learned to treat each request or concern as if it was my own and always follow - up when required. Soldiers ACAP records must be reviewed to insure all areas of importance is completed by the soldier with little to no room for error. I get alone with all my co-workers. – more... I ensure that when shift changes to brief on coming shift with all pertinent details of actions occuring on my shift to insure balance and continued service when needed due to different time zones. The hardest part of the job is to leave at the end of the shift without having any contacts. The most enjoyable part of the job is completing the mission with a transitioning soldier. – less

My review of Serco at Fort Carson, CO
Military Pay Technician Tech II Lead (Former Employee), Fort Carson, CO – October 10, 2012
Pros: hours, co-workers, and working with soldiers
Cons: immediate supervisor was not responsive
I was part of the management team for the contract at Fort Carson, CO. I assisted in helping Soldiers either inprocess or out process from Fort Carson. My immediate supervisor lacked the professional attitude and the leadership needed to help with workers. My other co-workers were wonderful people to work with and were extremely energenic and made my – more... daily duties fun. – less

We worked hard for the satisfaction of all our clients.
Education Services Counselor (Former Employee), Camp Casey, South Korea – October 10, 2012
Pros: 401k, vacation leave, christmas free lunch:)
Cons: no breaks
I've worked for SERCO INC for ten years until I left in 2010 to moved from Korea to the US. My typical day I worked for the company was very busy because I was the Test Examiner for 4 years. Then I got promoted as a Education Services Counselor. Working for the military is always busy and stressful. But I was motivated and did my job with patience and – more... compassion helping the men and women in uniformed. My supervisor was very helpful and he was always there when I needed help in Testing and when there are problems with the soldiers he was there to support me. The hardest part of my job when a Soldier complained about his class/tuition and the ESS(Education Services Specialist)send him/her to me on my busiest time. But I was so proud at the end of the day I helped and solved any problems they may have with their classes or with their GoArmyEd accounts.

The most enjoyable part of my job was during school registrations and everybody, the education center staff, school reps, my co-workers are working hard and helping one another without any complains. It was a fulfilling feeling of success when it was about time to go home after we helped everybody lined up to see us. Overall, the management was super except a few problems with the Civil service woker in the office. Other than that it was excellent! We strived working together for success. I miss working with them. – less
