Cons: top talent is mis-utilized. executive level leadership is out of touch with their staff.
Tremendous organization that truly is a cornerstone of the Austin community, unofortunately work life balance is non-existent. Span of control is truly an issue.
Radiology Technician II (Former Employee), Austin, TX – February 21, 2013
Pros: tech ladder
Cons: micro-management
Radiology brings in the most money to the hospital yet employees do not reap any of the benefits. Raises a mere 2% every other year, bonuses depend on hours worked. Benefits are awful; no birth control approved since it's a Catholic institution. Department and hospital falling apart, dirty and old. Micro-management as if workers were in pre-school, – more... with no recognition for hard work and no support from upper management. Good experience from learning to work in trauma hospital, yet terrible experience from dysfunctional work environment. – less
Pros: helping patients find their generative moments to self-manage their disease, and seeing the patients become stronger and more active.
Cons: getting necessary documents from some of the physician offices
A typical day is varied and broad in scope:
Patient and background information is routinely reviewed to enable education and coaching of patients to manage their pulmonary disease.
Customized patient education includes exercise equipment and technique that can be continued at home and in a gym. Patients are monitored when exercising to ensure they – more... are working at the right level, measure if oxygen is needed to supplement and how much, and monitor their blood pressure.
Many patients are unfamiliar with their prescribed medications and don't always take them correctly, or when to contact their physician. In addition, quality of life can be improved through more thorough education that promotes understanding of infection control, energy conservation, relaxation techniques, oxygen safety & travel to improve disease management.
Medical summaries are regularly provided to referring Physicians to communicate patient recommendation or needs. Meet with Medical Director to review patients on weekly or bi-monthly basis
DME communication is also provided when the patient's needs for oxygen are not being met or if they don't have the correct equipment. – less
There was no typical day in the OR. I learned some much about handling extensive trauma patients requiring surgical interventions. Anything can happen at anytime. Team work was essential.
