Pros: co-working field medics really care, pay, medical care
Cons: ems director/managment, shifts, disrespect from ems director
Great pay, great co-workers who really care, great hospital relations. Best paying EMS job outside Wilco and ATCEMS in central Texas. Good medical benefits with good retirement plan.
Very nice uniforms, new up to date equipment and uniforms.
NOW THE WARNING.......
The EMS manager/director could care less about medics work life balance or much less anything – more... you have to say. The medics are there to make him look good NOT the other way around. You will do it his way which he disguises as "The Seton Way!" Your down time is not your time. He would rather you up sweeping than resting between calls. The directors will be at the station m-f and show up through out the weekend and drive by at night to check on staff. He is in the position more to be a politician than to help the medics with patient care. The micro-management is constant and preached into the staff to "manage up" any type of staff concerns, complaint's or disagreements. Not to resolve them but just to get people to stop communicating about it. You will be responsible for calling around to all staff to find your own coverage for requested days off.(your own PTO you find your own coverage) This is complicated by the schedule and no 48's allowed.
Multiple complaints written and stated to human resources and upper management go uncorrected and unacknowledged over multiple years by multiple EMS staff including supervisors.
Seton as a whole is great company and this could truly be the best EMS job around with new management. When that happens this will be a 5 star employer. – less
