Sweeper (Former Employee) – Woodbridge, VA – September 20, 2017
Get up early in the morning and when every one would be done i would sweep and clean up the mess that was made I learned what pipes they use in the building like pvc and copper piped and the welding that is required to do the work.
S & D is a company that's still growing in the DC metro area. With Virginia and Washington, D.C. going through a growth phase, Shapiro and Duncan have what it takes to share the volume. There's a bunch of good, knowledgeable people to work with, and all seem to love what they do.
The downside is that they don't offer sick days, and the health insurance premiums are a little high, but not too bad.
Everyone from the top down is on the same page on every project concerning budget and production. Continuing education is pushed and encouraged with a whopping $6k available to every employee to use per year for just that! The owners of the company will come out to the jobsites to shake hands, talk to the men, and host different parties and conventions for everyone in the company. They have moved up quickly in the big leagues in regards to company size which match the bigger projects they have been awarded. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I enjoyed working with everyone and everyone I have worked with here had a great attitude towards the company and life in general.
Apprentice Plumber (Former Employee) – Washington, DC – July 6, 2015
Everyday is planned according to the job status. Much to learn and a lot of positive people to be around. The hardest part of the job is the early mornings but once used to it, it becomes at natural habit. The most enjoyable of course would be the weekly compensations on Friday.
