Most rewarding job.
Pros: Feeling appreciated by workers that understand we are there for their safety.
Cons: Long hot days.
A very enjoyable job, working with Team Leads that are supportive and are readily available. A typical day starts with selecting the most critical operation location for the day and attending the safety meeting to elaborate on safety issues concerning the operation. I insure the proper permits are in place and filled out properly and JSA's are detailed and correct. I inspecting Lifting and Hoisting rigging, certifications on equipment and personnel, Temporary pipe work certification, DROPs, and emergency plan is in place and understood. I observe operations and intervene in any unsafe acts and promote pauses prior to critical tasks such as overhead lifts, high pressure iron. I will audit one subject a day per location and record all action items after notifying responsible supervisors. I would have to say the hardest part of the job is a lot of walking and standing on location. The most enjoyable part of the job is helping workers do there job safe and feeling appreciated by the workers, knowing that I'm there for there safety and not to police them.
