On a typical day of work, the Subacute unit is quite busy with the many patients who seek our services. I usually receive patients, assist with filling out forms, maintain and retrieve medical files, and transcribe and type medical reports. I organize large amounts of data that the office generates every day. I am very knowledgeable of computer applications, spreadsheets, and all medical software. With my computer skills, I am able to update patient information when needed, and manage patients medical records information.
I can honestly say that I have learned a lot working on the Subacute unit! I learned how to manage my time with the big workload handed each day, interacting with other employees each day, and most of all, interacting with doctors!
I would say the hardest part of my job is having to manage time in an efficient manner. A high level of discretion to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is a desirable attribute to my job, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision, handling pressure, and meeting deadlines. I feel as though I am continuously working on bettering myself each day that I work!
The most enjoyable part of my job is interacting with patients, patients families, and other staff members, and members of the public. I am a peoples person, with effective communication skills, and always have a smile on my face no matter the case!
