Job Responsibilities
This position functions as a business partner within the organization by providing proactive HR strategies and solutions that support the short and long term business objectives of the organization. It is a true generalist role, encompassing all aspects of HR practice.

Reporting Relationships

  • Position reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Primary Duties

  • Develop and maintain the vision and strategy for the Company’s HR organization. Provide thought-leadership; challenge the status quo to determine best practices as appropriate within desired Company culture
  • Establish and maintain credibility and respect for HR based on competence and integrity
  • Lead/develop company-wide HR processes such as HR policies and procedures, performance management, benefits, job descriptions, career paths, employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, training and compliance with applicable state and federal employment law
  • Develop HR department goals, objectives and systems
  • Administer compensation and performance evaluation programs; revise as necessary
  • Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees
  • Recruit all exempt and non-exempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conduct new employee orientations; monitor career pathing program
  • Serve as a consultant/partner to management on employee-related issues, while also serving as an employee champion to best balance both Company and employee interests. Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing
  • Take initiative to anticipate and identify needs; recommend solutions

Secondary Duties

  • Develop and maintain affirmative action program, file EEO-1 report annually, maintain all necessary records, reports and logs to conform with EEO regulations
  • Maintain company organization charts and employee directory
  • Maintain HRIS records and compile reports from database
  • Provide day-to-day HR guidance and advice on all HR-related matters
  • Provide high energy, enthusiastic leadership of outcomes-based wellness initiatives with emphasis on balancing employee satisfaction and Company financial benefits.
  • Coach on effective leadership practices and behaviors
  • Complete other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 7 -10 years’ progressively responsible HR generalist experience across multiple HR disciplines
  • PHR certification desired
  • Prior construction industry experience a plus

  • Knowledgeable/experienced using Microsoft Office software; advanced Excel and Word skills are necessary
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Valid driver’s license required
