First engineering job, it was a good one. It showed me what corporate life was like. It showed me I do not belong in an office all day staring at a computer screen.

Good place to work, except for the current uncertainty of wind energy
Business Process Specialist (Current Employee) –  Fort Madison, IAAugust 1, 2017
Love my job. Love the company, the work environment, and my co-workers. It is a difficult industry at the moment with all the uncertainty of the future of wind energy. Budget cuts, tax credits evaporating, and other issues make it difficult to see a long-term future with the company. Heartbreaking, since it is a great job and a wonderful opportunity in a depressed area of the USA.
Pros
coworkers, clean facility, great benefits and pay
Cons
uncertainty

Industrial Engineer (Former Employee) –  Jackson, MSJuly 27, 2017
Siemens is a pretty good company depending on which location you work in. The down south locations are a little slow and they do not use much technology. I enjoyed hands on experience but would have enjoyed it more with a better supervisor.

Siemens is a large corporation with over 350k employees and have their hand in just about every industry, building everything from digital technology to large gas compressors. The Energy Services business of Siemens is an exciting place to work. Opportunities are vast and management is supportive. With locations worldwide, mobility is encouraged.

Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee) –  OrlandoJuly 18, 2017
Local regions are great to work with including office mates however working in field you do not meet as many people. Cannot plan vacations during outage season, expect to be on call 24/7.

Work is fun, challenging and you meet new people every outage.

Miserable Company
Project Engineer (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLJuly 10, 2017
If you want to be treated like your a dime a dozen then Siemens is the company for you. I

The managers ate Siemens are a hateful bunch of people. Managers typically yell, swear, and get in your face. One manager made me take vacation time for doctors visits.

Siemens requires employees to fly coach for international travel.

Diversity training is extremely negative and derogatory towards white males. One HR manager old me if you are a white male forget about becoming a manager.

Americans are treated as inferior to the German employees.
Pros
Salary

Management, Lots of unpaid overtime

Training Specialist (Former Employee) –  Fort Madison, IAJune 29, 2017
When I first started, this place was amazing! I loved my job, I felt appreciated. Then, the plant manager went to the China plant and we got a new one. Moral was down plant wide within 6 months and still is to this day. There is always a chance to pick up hours before or after work and people do so often, that there is not much mandatory.
Pros
Great pay when working directly for the company, not the new temp hiring service
Cons
Now using a temp service to hire, production has gone dowhill
