A nice relaxed company to work for
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Los Angeles, Ca – May 2, 2013
A typical day at work varied from day to day. For the most part I would be on the phones answering inquiries about the medical equipment for either new customers or current customers. I learned a lot about purchasing and selling from my manager who was a joy to work for and with. He took the time to teach me and make sure I understood everything. There – more... wasn't too much that was hard or difficult about my job but the most enjoyable would have to be the free lunches from In and Out from time to time. – less

Mix of very good and very bad
Operations (Former Employee), Tarrytown, NY – April 29, 2013
Pros: great pay and benefits- that's why most people don't leavel
Cons: inconsistent culture throughout sites, mgmt refusal to address major problems, too much middle management
For those working in Healthcare, the atmosphere will vary from site to site. Those sites previously acquired maintain their own unique culture and struggle to adapt to certain parts of the Siemens way. This made dealing with other sites quite a struggle. The day to day job I found in some positions was quite challenging but in my case it was pretty – more... easy. Chalk that up to management's inability to set across standards across the site. They were either indifferent or ineffective towards maintaining standards across the sites. In other words, someone working in the exact same group at another site might have priorities completely different from my own. I found there to be a total lack of leadership. Maybe not at the very top level but those entrusted to carry out the vision set forth by the CEO were not very good at rolling it out. Site-level management wasn't much better as they were more concerned with doing their own thing rather than harmonizing with the gameplan that higher management had laid out. I would describe Siemens as almost like working for a large government. Just one big confusing bureaucracy where sometimes the simplest tasks can be derailed by someone with their own selfish interests. If you're someone who such things don't bother you then you can succeed there. If you're someone who can't help but challenge things that don't make common sense you'll find it enormously frustrating. – less

Very demanding and difficult job, not to mention that siemens is huge company, didn't help any
Account Manager (Former Employee), Madison, Ms – April 5, 2013
Pros: car, salary
Cons: everything else
You are married to your phone and computer dealing with problems and quotes. You rarely have enough time to do anything except to fix problems, my vacation was when i got to travel. The hardest part of the job is dealing with siemens in general, company is way too big. It got to the point that people would not respond to emails or phone calls. The most – more... enjoyable part of the job was the day I quit. – less

Senior Field Service Engineer (Former Employee), Deerfield, IL – January 12, 2013
Pros: lot of freedom, start when you want
Cons: they expect perfection from my last manager.
The most enjoyable part of the job was being out and meeting people, plus a lot of freedom. A lot of driving for sure but company car was provided that you had free gas even for personal use which was a huge perk. They expect high customer service scores 9 or 10 out of 10 and you will not get a raise if you do not hit those which is what happened to – more... me, ultimately ending in my demise. – less

Great place to work!
Lead Writer, DITA Production (Current Employee), Tarrytown, NY – October 31, 2012
Pros: great cafeteria, lovely campus.
Cons: very few work areas have windows.
The only thing lacking at Siemens is management training. Other than that, they are a great company. Siemens encourages diversity, education, safety, quality, pretty much everything you want in a company. Sometimes, though, they promote a person beyond their capabilities and then they don't help them improve.

Great for early risers
Manufacturing Tech II (Former Employee), Atlanta, GA – July 30, 2012
Pros: free lunches, steady hours
Cons: lack of parts
The great thing about working here was that you could go in as early as the doors unlocked, work your 8 hours, eat lunch and go home. I like the job because it was structured, fast paced, and unlike most of my past jobs I could sit. Most days went well as to where I had all of the parts needed to repair equipment, but the others days orders would be – more... cleaned, diagnosed, but just waiting on parts to complete the repair. This would cause customer service issues which would reflect on me. Management was well organized and they communicated with us very well, we knew of meetings or updates immediately because of emails as well as management reminding us. The hardest part of the job was completing orders with a lack of parts. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting in and out early so that you could enjoy the rest of your day. – less
