just a great place to work until they send your position over seas to a country that pays its employees very little for the high tech very specialized training that cost thousands and thousands of dollars to get you where you need to be, at your very best technically and then its great money. then layoffs. and your messed with again. unless your have a masters in electronics your screwed
I got opportunity to intern at Silicon Labs, Ausitn in Summer 2015. It is a big company but in its core it works like a startup so the culture is very open and full of learning. You can approach to seniors and discuss the issues you are facing and get guidance how to proceed. Also, you have enough scope to build upon on your own ideas and solutions.
Great company focusing more on IoT for future growth. Engineers were knowledgeable and were willing to entrust large projects to you. You'll learn a lot of new technologies if you work here! Sometimes, it felt that the environment encouraged staying late to work. Part of this is because the company is trying to establish itself in some very competitive markets such as IoT.
Overall great experience!

As far as working environment, it seems very laid back. As long as you are getting your work done in the time frame given, nobody is going to harp on you. There is somewhat of a workaholic feel for some teams, but it's up to you to determine how much you are going to give in to that kind of pressure.
As far as management, they seem to be disjointed from the rest of the employees. There is always some sort of reorganization going on and nobody knows what high-level division they are actually apart of half the time.
As far as outlook, the company seems to be going in the same direction as the rest of the industry: Internet of Things! Which is great... if you are within that division; otherwise you will feel like you are anything but a part of the company's future.

I am surprised the company has not been more successful yet. They hire the best talent out there, pay them well to get them and keep them, and demand 100% from everybody including management. By far, this was the most demanding, most rewarding, and most fun job I have had. Everybody, including managers, would work long hours and create a true team environment where everybody helps out which I found inspiring. Team members may also get lend to other teams if there project needs another helping mind/hand. Groups are run very lean. Management has little patience for talent or projects that don't meet quota. Profits are shared with employees.

Systems Administrator II (Former Employee) – Austin, TX and Singapore – May 20, 2013
This is an Austin based company and I was the only administrator from the team in S.E. Asia. Stationed in Singapore, with the timezone difference, I had to handle any and every technical issue that came up in my timezone - from IT to facilities.
There was a lot of job autonomy but unfortunately, with overall management change in the head office (Austin), there came new direction and all IT Infrastructure Administrator positions outside Austin were shutdown.
