About Simon Fraser Society for Community Living
The Simon Fraser Society for Community Living is a charitable, not-for-profit agency founded in 1953. It began as an agency to provide an educational program for young children with intellectual disabilities who were excluded from the school system of that time. Since then, the Society has grown to provide a range of programs and services for approximately – more... 650 children and 280 adults (with another 100 adults involved solely in Society social activities). Our services support the needs of newborns right through to seniors in our community.
The Society promotes a child-centred approach within the context of the family when providing support for children with extra needs. Placing the child and family in the centre of the model represents our understanding of the lifelong importance of the family.
The Society also works hard to ensure that persons who live with intellectual disabilitiesand their families are afforded the same choices in lifestyle that typical citizens enjoy. This means inclusive opportunities wherever possible, including community housing, employment opportunities, real choices for recreation, leisure and respect for cultural and religious preferences. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
