About SimplexGrinnell
This company does more than simply grin at the thought of fire and security risks, it does something about it. SimplexGrinnell, a part of Tyco International's Fire Protection Services segment, provides integrated security alarm, fire suppression, healthcare communications, and emergency lighting systems. It reaches some 1 million customers in the US – more... and Canada through more than 150 district offices located in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and other regions. Clients include members of local, state, and federal government agencies, corporations, oil and gas companies, hospitals, and educational facilities.
Operations
In addition to providing security and fire related products, SimplexGrinnell operates a service division devoted to test and inspection, preventive maintenance, central station monitoring, and emergency services. Its communications segment provides mass notification and commercial paging, as well as intercom and other sound systems. The company also provides healthcare communications such as infant security, nurse call, and emergency alert units.
Strategy
In 2012 parent Tyco International sold its Tyco Flow Control business. The divestiture made Tyco International the world's largest dedicated fire protection and security company as measured by market share, and gave SimplexGrinnell, a longtime leader in the fire and safety industry, an even more prominent role in the growth of its business.
That year SimplexGrinnell acquired privately held Certified Fire Protection, a leader in fire suppression in the greater Atlanta area. The acquisition strengthens and expands the company's fire suppression capabilities in a key growth market while advancing its overall strategy and focus on being the leader in life safety and property protection across North America.
In 2011 SimplexGrinnell launched a new web site to give its customers a fast and convenient way to purchase many of its products that do not require installation support.
