Trainee Quantity Surveyor, Greater London - August 3, 2017
The workplace and SRM was extremely professional and well driven, full of individuals highly motivated to achieving their goals. I learnt a lot here. A typical day for me would be usually shadowing a Quantity Surveyor, performing tasks for them to help with my education as a trainee but also helping them achieve their tasks. These would often include site visits, package valuations and problem solving. I worked on the largest job the company ever had whilst working on the 'Bloomberg London' project which was very exciting. I was exposed to a lot of busy people with whom I learnt a lot from like the roles ad responsibilities of Engineers and Quantity Surveyors. The hardest part of the job was probably going from a school and college environment straight to high pressure working environment in the city, it definitely took some adjusting to. The most enjoyable part of the job was probably working in the city environment as I love the busy London environment and the opportunity to work with highly skilled individuals was very good for me. However, I do feel I was quite poorly managed due to being a trainee in that busy environment and there wasn't always things for me to do.
