This is a great company to work for if you are looking to get your foot in the door for mental health. A typical day at work..everyday is an adventure. Never a dull moment. There are days where you are running errands, taking clients out to the movies, or shopping. There are days where you spend all day in the house. You teach residents daily living skills such as hygiene, or cooking skills. This job can be very fun or very hard.
Management depending on which home you work in varies from stellar to mediocre. The co-workers you work with are like at any other place of employment. There tends to be a lot of inter staff drama, but overall everybody is really friendly and willing to work together.
The hardest part of the job is that it can be VERY demanding, sometimes you have to work really long, or unfavorable hours. Most of the time though, supervisors will work with you to find a flexible schedule. This is a great job for somebody who doesn't mind working a lot, or a little... depending on your home's schedule for staff.
The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the residents succeed and seeing the difference you make in their lives. This job can be very hard sometimes, but very rewarding.
