Great place to do local model consulting
Director (Current Employee) –  Dallas, TXNovember 2, 2016
Slalom has had strong growth coupled with a desire to keep the culture that has made it a great place to work. There is a strong focus on evolving the firm to be the "most impactful place you'll ever work" and leaders really do try to live up to that.
Pros
Great coworkers, fun culture
Cons
Still a bit behind big firms on benefits, but do provide no travel, so an easy trade-off to stay in consulting

Great Culture! Better for Consultants Than Senior Execs
Practice Area Lead (Current Employee) –  San Francisco Bay Area, CAAugust 31, 2016
Slalom is a fantastic place to work! For consultants, you will have fun and challenging projects in a great culture. For roles above consultants, particularly Practice Leads, it a very challenging wit little work/life balance. The salaries are decent; the PTO is fair but no Sick Time means you have to use your 3 weeks of PTO if you are sick.

Slalom consulting is a great firm that has no outside investors. It is a great place to start a career in consulting with lots of great people and culture.

Culture changed for the negative
Business Consultant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 16, 2016
The firm grew too fast too soon causing it to lose its culture. The work became more of a staff augmentation and less focus on professional development.
Pros
Client facing
Cons
Limited PTO days

Professional work place
Consultant (Former Employee) –  Bellevue, WAApril 27, 2016
I was a project employee at Slalom for 4 years, but I was able to interact with fellow consultants during all-hands meetings at the client site. The people who I interacted with were very professional, willing to share their knowledge and help out.
Pros
Monthly meetings with fellow consultants to interact and catch up
Cons
As a project employee, I was not included in many activities that FTEs were involved in.

Transitioning - Growing while struggling to maintain core values
Corporate Services (Former Employee) –  Seattle, WAJuly 29, 2013
As a high growth consulting firm, the focus is rightly on the consultation side of the business. Unfortunately this is often at the expense of the corporate services that support them.

This results in a high allure but ultimately stagnant environment for any employee not directly generating billable projects. Many of the management are from large local tech firms and only hire or promote people they have previously worked with, unwittingly working to create a semi-hostile workplace for newcomers. If you can make it past this period of antagonism, the company itself is amazing to work for and the people are top notch.

They are growing fast and still trying to figure out the work division and individual roles needed to maintain service levels. Thus, hiring is slow and workload is high for most internal departments.
Pros
Fringe Benefits, Colleagues, Activities, Interesting Work
Cons
Workload, Lack of Training, Embedded Management, Lack of Support

Great place to work
Software Engineer, promoted to Consultant (Current Employee) –  Seattle, WAJune 3, 2015
Slalom is likely one of the best consulting companies you could work for. The work-life balance is excellent, the team culture is great, and the people are all fun.

Only con I can really think of is a lot of "projects" are more staff-aug work than actual projects.

Productive & Fun Workplace
Technology Consultant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 24, 2014
Typical Consulting minus the bureaucracy to that extent. I wouldn't say it's not there but not as bad as the Big 4.

However they have to sill improve their compensation/Benefits to attract & retain top talent.
