All Commission, sink or swim
Sales (Former Employee) –  Boston, MASeptember 9, 2016
The mattress world is surprisingly cut-throat and Sleepys is no exception. Be prepared for long lonely hours waiting for potential customers, but you can also expect to make considerable money for your efforts. Worst salespeople make 25k. Best in my region was making over 150K.
Pros
Money
Cons
55-66 hour weeks

Good Place to work
Manager (Current Employee) –  Cherry Hill, NJSeptember 2, 2016
Good place to make decent money.. You have to be able to handle a ton of down time. Pretty much open the store and wait for customers. You can also prospect your friends and family or social media on slow days to generate business.

They offer a lot, but with a catch
Customer Service Agent (Current Employee) –  Hicksville, NYAugust 1, 2016
Work/life balance is terrible. I have been reprimanded due to having to leave early (and was approved) to deal with family and person emergencies. They make promises but don't tell you it can take years to not advance but to change positions. They were recent purchased by another company prior to my hiring, though transparent about the situation they are currently cutting staff base on "adherence" and other catch issues that were never discussed. Once an occurrence happens it can take years for them to clear your record despite it being your one occurrence. When picking up over time if you are unable to meet their requirements due to personal issues you will also be reprimanded. Basically any reason they can knock you back a few pegs they will.

Run! Don't walk away from this company!
Support (Former Employee) –  Hicksville, NYJuly 2, 2016
Sleepy's has been bought out by Mattress Firm. There is zero job security and the corporate office located in Hicksvile has laid off 80% of their employees.

People who have been loyal, dedicated employees for 10-20 years have been laid off or let go in recent months.

There is no stability and no future in this company.

Company moral is ZERO and the company has basically diminished its corporate office.

The new culture sucks and people walk around like it's a morgue.

Mattress Firm's corporate offices are located in Houston,TX and that's where the company will be run from eventually.

Sales might be a whole other situation but I would still be cautious in working for a company that's in transition.

It's terrible to see a previously owned family business crumble.
Pros
Very little work
Cons
The corporate office has no future

Stay away. Stay far away.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJune 29, 2016
They will tell you at time of interview and at their "university" you will make upwards of a 6 figure income. That would only hold true if you are in a high volume multi million dollar store. They are oversaturated in many areas so you may be lucky to see 2 people a day (if you are in a bad showroom). They expect insane numbers to reach, and if you are in a bad showroom you will never meet that. Not even close. They look at numbers only and if you don't meet them you are out. Again, they only look at numbers and not the true problem which would be the location. You are basically a babysitter for the store.

The pay is a joke. Yes you get 125 a day. If your commission does not equal that, you wind up paying it back with whatever good commissions you do get. In a nutshell, after taxes, 800 every two weeks. Again, stay far far away. If you do decide to work for this company, pray you are in high ticket stores. If not, be prepared to look for another job, more than likely not by your choice

As a side note, fellow employees are Amazing.
Pros
Great co-workers
Cons
Long hours, horrible pay, constant management change

If you have a lot of time on your hands, Sleepy's is for you. You will work 11 hour days with very little work to do, and get to interact with some really really great people.

Challenging and ever changing day to day.
Transportation Analyst (Current Employee) –  Robbinsville, NJApril 19, 2016
Everyday presented challenges of day to day operations. There are slow periods in which we used to challenge ourselves to help reduce cost for the company and implement new policies. During our busy periods all departments pull together and complete all task within the time frames allotted.
Pros
They will be flexible with your schedule
Cons
healthcare and only 3 paid holidays off a year

SALES AND OPERATIONS MANAGER (Former Employee) –  N/AApril 14, 2016
Management plays favorites across the board. If you're not one of the "special ones" you will be put into a store on the days that the store manager decides to take off. Generally the store managers take off on the slowest days of the week.
