Generous paid time off and decent individual benefits. (Not family coverage though.) Weekends and evenings off for clinical staff are a big plus. Still chronically understaffed. The biggest problem at SD is its culture of fear and blame. You can do 99 things right but make one mistake and you are in serious trouble, and the mistake will be remembered and brought up at every opportunity. Not good for morale and does not foster loyalty. They do not appreciate some fantastic employees they have. Do not dare to question anyone above you, just do what you are told no matter how absurd the order. Senior management has neither formal administrative training nor any desire to develop proper organizational leadership skills. Doctors own and run SD but are really quite disengaged. Consequently, they are not interested in systemic improvements. An extremely reactive culture with a total lack of awareness about changes in healthcare. But people that are on the same level with you are generally supportive and willing to help. Many wonderful colleagues there. A good learning experience but I would not recommend SD to anyone if they have a choice of where to work.
