Warehouse Assistant (Former Employee), North Branch, MN – May 21, 2012
A typical day at work included putting together furniture to bring out to the sales floor, taking sold furniture off the sales floor and preparing it for customer pickup, loading furniture into the customer's vehicles and cleaning the warehouse. I learned how to manage my time and make sure we get the most important duties done first. My management – more... was average at this position, my first warehouse manager was terrible, he would come into work hungover or drunk and sleep in his office, then he was replaced by another warehouse assistant who was a good manager. There was also store managers who were effective in their management techniques. My coworkers were, for the most part, good. They were all high school students as well and we knew each other before we worked there. The hardest part of the job was when a lot of people would come to pick up their furniture at the same time so we had to try and get all their furniture wrapped and loaded very quickly so no one would become upset or call the store and complain. The most enjoyable part of the job was just talking to the customers, many of them were very friendly and would like to hold a conversation with you. – less
