challenging, positive, and fun workplace
Shipping and receiving specialist (Former Employee), Houston, TXNovember 19, 2012
Pros: responsibility, sense of importance, and completion of a project
Cons: stressful tedious orders that must be rushed.
The day starts with opening incoming product, and separating orders according to purchase order. Then inspecting and entering the data into the data entry program (Workschain). After entering all the purchase orders, then retrieving the needed parts for the sales order. The order gets packaged according to I.D.E.A. standards, when the correlating paperwork – more... is match with an order, an employee must then prepare the airway bill and outgoing documents (sometimes International documents). I learned about international shipments and accountability due to the process in which order where processed. Management was very positive and informative, The co-workers are very hardworking and diligent. The job could get stressful if parts came up missing due to there cost(in the thousands or even the millions) and quantity. The most enjoyable part of the job was the responsibility and the openness to new methods or improving the functionality of programs used. – less
