Social & Scientific Systems (SSS) loves to crunch numbers in the public interest. The firm provides research services to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as government organizations specializing in public health issues such as cancer and substance abuse. SSS supports clinical research trials by providing data management and biostatistical research services, as well as cardiac lab services. It also conducts public health and epidemiology surveys, provides software and website development, and offers program evaluation and policy analysis services. Founded in 1978, the firm is one of the leading government contractors that deal with public health issues. SSS is a 100% employee-owned company.
Sales and Marketing
SSS provides services to more than 500 clinical research laboratories, as well as about 40 specialty labs, in more than 50 countries worldwide. Some of the company's biggest clients include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the US Agency for International Development. Among other services the SSS provides clinical development, health research and policy analysis, and statistical analysis for these and other government organizations.
To better serve its clients, SSS regularly adds new products and services, primarily through internal development efforts. In 2011 it launched the health indicators warehouse (HIW), a collection of health indicator data to support researchers, technology firms, and policymakers by increasing access to health information from more than 170 regional sources. The HIW was launched in partnership with the NIH.
Mergers and Acquisitions
SSS has grown through careful acquisitions, making only four since its inception in 1978. Over the years it has acquired research and project manager Coda Research, international health program consulting firm TvT Associates, computer programming business Infinibyte, and ClinStats Data Group. – less
