Never a dull moment. Working as a team towards a common goal is key!
Sub Para-Educator (Current Employee) –  Fairfield, CAAugust 31, 2016
Working is almost non-stop but very rewarding. Serving others is always a challenge. Working as part of a team working effectively toward a common goal is worth it!

Management in my experience has been awesome. Co-workers have been wonderful; especially those who are not afraid to let others come in and join the team.

The hardest part of the job is being matched with a team of people who are afraid to let you in the circle of responsibility...maybe not realizing you may have just the thing that's needed. The most enjoyable part is realizing you've made a difference and maybe even a significant impact on another persons life by working towards a common goal (whether big or small).
Pros
Working with individuals who love to serve others

Substitute Para Educator (Current Employee) –  Throughout Solano CountyAugust 24, 2015
As a substitute Para Educator with Solano County Office of Education I felt like a valued employee. Through the Aesop system I was able to view and choose assignments which fit into my schedule. I was also able to work in a wide variety of classrooms which children of varying ages and abilities. Solano County Office of Education often promotes from within and offers permanent positions which is also a positive advantage to this employer.

Special Education Paraeducator (Current Employee) –  Fairfield, CAOctober 6, 2012
A typical day is one on one teaching with a child with moderate to severe disabilities. Teaching the child based on his or her own individual education plan and guiding each student to reach their full potential. I have learned from this job that every child is unique and learn in different ways. The most challenging part of my job is seeing my students act out because they are frustrated and don't know how to communicate their needs. The most enjoyable part is watching the students flourish and learn how to succeed despite their disability.
Cons
low pay

Substitute Para Educator (Former Employee) –  Fairfield, CAJuly 26, 2013
As a substitute, your never guaranteed a job everyday, but through Solano County, I got called for a job everyday.
Some schools were better than others. The hardest part was going to a classroom where there was no teacher. Things were disorganized. The best part was substituting in a classroom that had a routine that was easy to follow.

Health Assistant/Paraeducator (LVN) (Current Employee) –  Fairfield, CAOctober 6, 2014
I love working with students, but it seems like nothing important can get done unless 10 different people with 10 different ideas decide on it. Very ineffective. Lots of gossip.
