Pros: can be good pay, so long as government panel pay lasts
Cons: very poor management, long hours, work for free often
you get paid (panel pay) or hourly wage...whichever is higher. Panel pay is always higher, so they make you work extra hours on jobs that don't pay Panel Pay, knowing you will be working for free. I volunteered to work overtime one weekend...they told me to go Thursday thru Tuesday on a commercial job...with no Panel Pay. So for two weeks my Panel Pay competed with this weekend...meaning I got paid half my normal pay (only worked Mon, Tue, Wed- and Wed, Thur, Fri) but worked for 12 days straight.
Work hours are not set...you work until job is complete...even if it is 8:00pm
Management plays favorites...they will give the larger Panel Jobs to their favorites, as they adjust your work schedule daily. If you don't finish the job...you go back the second day for free, and loose a day of potential Panel Pay.
The Rackers....basically laborers trained for a couple hours previously to install Panel Racks...are the most important employees...it is your job as Electrician to keep their moral high...and yours does not matter...
Pick another job, unless there aren't any...rotate to another city if you love installing Solar Panels...Portland's Office is just so poorly managed.
